This place is for sure 5 stars. The instructor Alex is extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and best of all has a sense of humor that makes class time go by quickly.

I just finished a BSN program out of SFSU, and took the BLS recertification, the EKG/pharm class, plus the ACLS from Alex. The information provided in class was clear and concise without the extra clutter. Also, I enjoyed the analogies of certain heart disorders, really made things easy to grasp. The classroom environment is a max of 6, and you can freely ask questions, super low stress environment for such a high stress training scenario. You do some cool mock scenarios with a dummy name Michael that really places all ACLS concepts into action.

Recommend Alex and his business with highest regards, definitely coming back when I need my recertification's.

“I had the privilege of taking an advanced nursing class from Aki Williams in the fall of 2008. Her experience, skill level and knowledge of pathophysiology and disease process are unsurpassed. I highly recommend her as a thoroughly entertaining educator.”

Thank you so very much for taking me as your student! I have learned an incredible amount from you over the last six weeks. I will go into my final semester of nursing school a stronger student because of you. Your patience, encouragement and support have been so wonderful. Thank you for creating a safe and fun learning environment for me

Aki was approachable and friendly from the moment we met. Her knowledge base and ability to explain complex pathology in an intuitive “real world” way provided me with a deeper understanding of disease process, intervention effectiveness, and the treatment and care continuum that persists after the patient is out of your care. Her approach to educating is challenging and effective. She challenges you to see “the big picture” of what is going on with your patients and equips you with the tools and confidence to give the best patient care possible. I know my ability to assess, treat and care for my patients would not be what it is today without having had the opportunity to learn from Aki and each of my patients benefits from what I learned.

Emergency Response Training is a great place to go to receive your basic and advanced training.  I took the PALS certification class with Alex and was pleasantly surprised by the expertise and small class size - both of which created a great learning environment.

The best part is that Alex is both an EMS and an RN - which means you don't get training from just one side.

I will definitely go straight to Emergency Response Training next time I need to get some training.

I love theses classes! I've been a nurse for 15 years and these are the best classes I've been to. Aki, Scott and Alex are down-to-earth, fun and really have creative, hands-on ways to learn

Solid and to-the-point presentation with a dash of sass...Emergency Response Training makes learning fun again!  Not only are their lecturers super experienced in their fields, but they are great at engaging their audience.  You get the best of both worlds with ERT.

Oh and their topics!  Not only can you get your run-of-the-mill certifications and CE classes but you can learn about crazy cool stuff like shark attacks and snake venom.  I attended the trauma symposium lectured by Bob and Catherine Hesse in October.  Catherine taught us more than I ever dreamed was going on with a bullet in her part on gunshot entry and exit wounds.  Her photo slides were unforgettable and I came away from it coldly informed.

I'm a new RN and always looking for ways to refine and streamline the mess of information given to us in nursing school.  Aki's Rapid Assessment class was SO good in that regard.  Thank you!!  Other hot items for new RNs are the New Grad Job Hunter Concierge, the Skills Lab and classes like "Calling With Confidence".   Hugely relevant topics and resources.  Thanks, ERT, for being so with it!

Emergency Response Training is a fantastic organization.  The 12 Lead/STEMI class was fantastic.  The class is super organized and fun, and it is exactly what I needed.  I already had basic EKG interpretation under my belt, and this class added the understanding of the different leads and how the readings can provide information about MI in different parts of the heart, etc.  I will probably take it again to refresh later.

Also, I have taken a couple other classes and both were really informative and fun.  I learned a great deal about trauma in the Symposium they hosted, and Aki is the one you want to learn speedy assessments from!

It is so nice to have such a great resource for continuing my nursing training and education on this side of the hill!

Whew, I just passed ACLS!

Went to Emergency Response Training for ACLS recertification on a friends recommendation.  I was not disappointed.  Alex is a great instructor.  He's both a paramedic and ICU/ER nurse so you get the dual  benefit of his field and hospital experience.

The class size is small, great for someone like me who's a real bonehead when it comes to ACLS.  The classroom is clean and new.  There is plenty of equipment available to practice with.  I really liked the way the megacode scenarios were run, well organized and non threatening.  Free coffee and snacks, a total bonus.

Other reviewers mention website issues making registration difficult, I had no problems at all.  Their website has been totally redesigned and updated.  I'm sure those issues have been handled.

I highly recommend Alex and his team of professionals for your AHA certification and training needs.

I have taken several classes with Emergency Response Training and plan to continue expanding my knowledge through their awesome instructors and selection of courses. Among the classes I have taken: Rapid Nursing Assessment class was extremely beneficial and even FUN! The instructors were very knowledgeable, approachable, and have had years of experience. I would highly recommend this course to any nursing student, new grad, or nurse re-entering the field. A very easy but thorough method of assessment! PALS (made easy by Alex!) was a phenomenal class and so much less intimidating than when I took ACLS with another company. I have taken EKG Basics, ABG interpretation, and a killer, all-day Trauma Symposium with them as well. I am already scheduled for several more courses at ERT, including a STEMI 12 Lead course. I plan on keeping all my certs up to date with Emergency Response Training. Good people, good times, good knowledge!

Check out what they're doing for our public school system!

I have my paramedic license and needed to renew ACLS and PALS. Small classroom, but that's what makes it great.  Smaller class size made it easy to ask questions and have group discussions about possible and real scenarios we have faced.  Instructor had the knowledge and experience to make the day a little more fun and dynamic than just the standard class, yet we still covered everything.  And to top it off, the price was as good as it could get.  Would definitely recommend taking any of the classes they have to offer.

This was my first CPR class but it was a wonderful experience! I took BLS for healthcare providers with Alex and it was a very thorough class but Alex makes it easy. He is obviously very experienced and knows his stuff. I came out of the class actually feeling as though I could handle and emergency situation!

I've been BLS-certified for years now, but have always dreaded the idea of actually having to put my skills to use. That somebody's life might depend on me to resuscitate them has always made me anxious. My heart starts to race. My palms get a little sweaty. Feels like I might just have a heart attack myself! But since taking a couple classes at ERT, I feel so much more confident in my ability to save someone should the situation arise.

Alex's approach is simple, low-stress and very effective. He's developed some excellent learning tools that makes it easy to remember and understand the various ACLS algorithms, and I appreciate that he injects useful tips based on his own experience as an RN and cardiac life support giver. His focus on hands-on learning through multiple code practices seems intimidating at first -- but he's awesome at guiding you through initially and building your confidence until you get it all down.

Parking in the garage right behind is a breeze ($5/day), and plenty of free coffee/5-hr energy shots are perfect for caffeine junkies. Love the location, too -- right around the corner from tons of eateries, TJ's, etc.

Registering online was super easy, and Andrea makes sure you get your books lightening-fast. Much love for ERT. I just wish they offered an NRP course as well (ahem!). I'll definitely be back for future re-certs!

I am a nursing student in San Mateo and was referred to this ERT from a peer. I took both ACLS and PALS here and loved it! Alex is a great teacher and the classes are small, which I prefer as we get more one-on-one attention. Definitely worth the drive to Santa Cruz! Plus you still have enough of the day left to hang by the beach or downtown :)
